Building Bridges

Imagine the world without bridges. The smallest river would become a barrier … Without bridges, all communication would slow down, and civilization would not be able to develop beyond the stage of small isolated settlements.

Jerry Kingston, “How Bridges Are Made”

Almost every new initiative these days requires the effort and talents of many people.   Differences in role, background, styles and work cultures can be the foundation for creativity and collaboration or they can block communication, create distrust and build resistance.

Working collaboratively requires advanced communication skills and yet with the time pressures building common ground can seem overwhelming.  Developing teamwork across Branches, Divisions and stakeholders can dramatically increase the speed, quality and ease with which you achieve your goals.

Learn how to open lines of communication that take advantage of differences as strengths versus sources of conflict.  Apply a simple (but not so easy) 5 step process to increase mutual understanding, build trust, generate shared goals, promote two-way dialogue and ensure ongoing feedback.

In the Building Bridges workshop you will:

  • Discover how miscommunication, tension and conflict can result from simple differences in perspective
  • Appreciate the strengths that diversity brings to a task or team
  • Learn a simple technique for understanding the root of most resistance
  • Learn a 5 step process for Building Bridges of understanding that can be applied to any initiative
  • Increase your influence and your ability to build positive work relationships
  • Leave with a simple worksheet that they you can start using immediately

Who Should Attend:

Building Bridges is a critical skill for leaders of any project, team or multi stakeholder initiative who want to increase their impact and influence.
